Curtis- The theme for the Chevy was a lowrider style so upping the performance of the lowly 327ci v8 wasn't on the cards. I couldn't afford the full hydraulic "bang it on the ground" system so I just torched the springs a bit to bring it down. The SS model variant came with bucket seats and a "four on the floor" instead of a front bench seat and auto trans. A change of wheels, stance, and eye popping pearl paint was plenty at the time.

Spectrum- She was only 18 so neither was needed. We still keep in touch.

And believe it or not, there is a song about Volvos. Dean's garage gave it a try, modern times and AI are at your service.

One day, out of the blue. my father-in-law let us use his '34 ford roadster for the day. A nice little ride with an updated sidevalve V8.

Would that be the engine that was in the Ford V8 Pilot that was available in the UK? I think so.

I'm a bit fuzzy on sidevalve lumps but as I recall, the original Ford V8 in 1932 wasn't the same design as the later ones. They altered the design some time in the late 30's early 40's. I think the UK one had a different number of head bolts. Don't quote me on that.
