We find the ventusky app very good for short range forcasts, and lightningmaps.org if you want to see what is happening realtime with thunderstorms.

Well I think yesterdays forecast accuracy goes to the Norwegian forecasters. We had distant rumbles of thunder and a few short showers, none of which could be classed as thundery. Winds remained light where FM suggested strong gusting.

However, in defence of France Meteo, just 50km away they did cop a storm (probably the distant thunder we heard) with 40mm rain in a hour and over 100kph winds.

Estimates based on computer models rather than guesses.

If you are into guesses, then your best bet statistically is to guess that tomorrows weather will be the same as todays.

We've just returned from 9 days at the Hellfest rock/metal festival near Nantes. It was so hot they nearly declared an Alerte canicule.
We were there as first aiders and I don't think I've ever lost so much moisture (!) in my life. Fortunately we were allowed to wear shorts. We were run off our feet, people dropping like flies in temps of 36°C+ which was amplified by the enormous amount of metal (iron, not music) and tarmac.
It's wonderful to be back in a balmy 25°C with a light sea breeze ....

One of the reasons we left the Saumur area (49) was the long hot summers : the climate in the Saint-Malo area suits us much better !
The area where the festival was held (a lovely town, Demi !) is beautiful but too hot for us !

How do people live without at least one dog in the house?

It got quite cool the last couple of nights though once we got moving, we soon warmed up.
