Ikea at it again

Well their UK outfit seems to have gone above and beyond - and installed covert CCTV in the toilets - https://www.theregister.com/2021/10/01/ ... m_scandal/

I am not sure how anyone ever thought that this was a good idea.

Isolated incidents? Maybe. Just look for the red lights in your local Ikea next time you pop into the cubicles?

Sadly, I do not see the UK ICO handing out similar fines.

Presumably they are after shoplifters or people shooting up?

Would it be acceptable if they warned users? Otherwise, nasty.

Cameras have been installed in the past in public loos in the UK because of complaints of dubious practices going on there between men ...

When you read the article they are in a warehouse not a store so unlikely to be looking for shoplifters

Judging by the antics that go on in the Hypermarket where my daughter works, staff members are just as likely as customers for thieving - and from their own colleagues. I think there is CCTV in certain areas of staff only - but hopefully not the toilets!
