It would help the other members if you put your location in your post, so we know where you are taking about.
As I was referring to getting my winter clothes out of storage so that they are handy to use I hardly think you need to know where i am do you
We are just coming out of storm Claudia although some parts have been affected more than the north west
And Monday we have a cold weather alert

So which North West? or are you shy?

Freeing cold here this morning @ just over 1 deg.
Been on our boules alley roof sweeping off 2 years of debris & not long lit the lounge woodie to warm my backside. First time lighting this year as temperature outside has been abnormally high so far.
Kitchen's ticking over nicely with PAC & nice to come down to first thing but for complete bliss I don't think you can beat a good fire.

Very cold last night with freezing rain and a biting north easterly but today has dawned bright and sunny.

Chilly here in Berkshire too; it was -1.7C when I got up to make a cup of tea, with the garden looking lovely and the bird bath frozen solid. It’s now a lovely sunny day and 1.9C, my husband is scraping the car windows as we’re going out shortly, though the ice has softened.

I have to laugh when I hear people complaining that it's cold at this time of year. It's winter, after all, and surely it's to be expected ! Perhaps Gen Z has got away with generally milder winters for the last few years and has forgotten what cold is .... ?

We had a couple of weeks of a strong north easterly which made it feel colder than it was. No frost and an extremely light sprinkling of snow on Christmas day. Now the wind has dropped and the temps are hovering around freezing at night and it warms up to a balmy 4° or 5°C during the day.

The usual lunatics did their annual rush into the sea (without wetsuits) wearing fancy dress on New Year's Day .... the number increases every year. They're crackers

A thought for the families of people killed or injured in Crans Montana ......

Maybe the last time, I don't know, almost fourteen years ago. Walking and cycling a little cautiously, though. Straight into the city, taking pictures. Ice skating or walking briskly across frozen snow? I don't think I could manage that this time. Unless I was keen to get to know Blaze's colleagues...

Outside temperature now 2.4°C, occasional snow showers and inside our guest feels rather comfy.....nothing new, once again my armchair proves to be very popular with the felines.

About the tragedy in Crans Montana: exactly 25 years ago a devastating fire in Volendam. And exactly the same circumstances. For the survivors of that disaster, New Year's Day 2026 will not have been easy. Have no lessons been learned from what happened then?
