Finally it's happened. I'm having meals on wheels. It was either that or finely chopped fingers for lunch. After the first somewhat chaotic week, I'm enjoying it. The company delivers ever other day, so the following day's nosh goes in the fridge. Bizarrement, I'm the only client in Oradour, so I hope this will last.
At only €8 / day (plat principal), it's excellent value although I have to offload a lot of meat on OH, who didn't want meals on wheels. I suspect he'll change his mind in time as it really does take the pain out of wondering what to cook, and of courase my fingers.

I'm glad to hear the meals on wheels nosh is good value. It's a brilliant idea for those who can't for some reason get out and about, stand for long periods etc. I remember my mother doing it when I was a child .....

Wonderful - I had thought that in the future I will try meals on wheels. Ours is 10 euros for 3 courses delivered daily except weekends so I was thinking if/when I'm on my own I could save some over to cover the weekend. They don't supply bread so my bread maker will come in handy. I don't drive never have and walking 4 km to the supermarket is out of the question so I will also be contacting ADMR for a taxi service now and again to stock up with the necessary stuff ie ice cream
..........I think I've got it pretty much sorted ?

It sounds an excellent solution, MAD, and will be even better if your husband joins you in having his meals delivered. It sounds a reasonable cost and Sparkle’s is even better value.
I find we’re having more ready meals as age and illness have limited such things as cooking, although such easy things as baked salmon with ginger figure regularly and I still enjoy making tagines as they can be started and stopped part way through. With a ‘food M&S’ close by and supermarket deliveries each week all works out well - but at a much higher cost, of course!

I could have a starter and pud if ordered (for an extra 2-3 yoyos) but my appetite has plumeted in recent years, not to mention my desire to keep producing meals.
We already have shopping delivered (by U), so the next stop could be the mairie to book a plot in the cemetery

My neighbour in Autun lost his wife earlier this year and he now takes the "Town" meals. He has nothing but good to say about them except that, if he orders soup, it is always the same soup.
Other than that, there appears to be quite a lot of choice.
