Neither are the sans permis cars that are also speed restricted. Many years ago there was a dealer display of new Aixam models. Price for a new one? €11,000! No thankyou.

The Citroen AMI is €8k if you buy it new. Most of the parents I’ve talked with have leased them for three years, it’s the best option because the kids are going to graduate to a real car when they are old enough, remember they can start driving these things at 15. The down payment is in the region of €500 and €65 per month, bit of a no-brainer.

Insurance is probably the biggest problem for kids, it can be twice the lease payment.
