Anglo French rags.

Around these parts we have a few Anglo French papers and magazines are they national or are we just lucky if so what access do you have or perhaps you don't bother with them and stick to mainstream French ones. Here we have The (Etcetera) was a free but basic B/W not glossy magazine type, ( Living Magazine) always been free a glossy Mag, (The Connexion) standard Uk type newspaper get at supermarket or on subscription, and ( The Bugle) basic free small local paper, not seen for a while.

Nothing here in Auvergne Rhone Alpes. Well maybe in Lyon but not in the big towns and cities further south and certainly noy out in the sticks.

Really not interested. We have a local newspaper, a facebook page for the town "On se bouge à..." and contact with french friends locally.

I dont know what it is like now, but 20 years ago we used to get connection, but gave up becouse it was so full of errors, but in their defence, sometimes the english rags do cover subjects that are not necessarily covered in the french or english press, especially when covering changes in laws and rules that effect ex pats living here.

Thanks, its what I thought about them, I understand about the reading of the French papers etc, but as Widge says the mainstream don't, cover local issues or things appertaining to the ex-pat crowd. Also you only get local artisans advertising in these smaller papers handy if like me you want to support local businesses either Brit or French.

We used to read French Property News when it first came out late 1980s, a thin little newspaper which gave us useful information about house-buying before we moved here permanently. There was no internet, ergo no forums. I've no idea if it still exists today - we stopped reading it when we moved here.

We do read Connexion from time to time and whilst there are articles that don't concern or interest us, we like Nabnila Ramdani and Simon Heffer's columns. I have no idea whether there are other newspapers in English and I've never heard of an Anglo expat community in our area.

We get our news from French TV, radio, and on-line newspapers. For local info and news, I use a couple of FB groups.

Yesterday I was in a big supermarket about 20K from where I live and I noticed a copy of Connexion on the shelves. Picked it up to have a look and saw it was 6.85euros for a very thin paper. Amazed that it sells at that price.
