How's about adding where you live to your profile so members will know just whereabouts you're posting about.
Who? Widge? Location: 34390 Saint Etienne d'albagnan, Herault

That's the chap.
I know 8:52 am is a bit early for me to be posting but either I'm going blind or it wasn't showing then.

@ Polarengineer: firetower? From what I’ve seen of them on TV, the ‘real’ fire towers, manned by guetteurs, lookouts, do look a bit less makeshift. You have to scan the horizon in a 360-degree radius, use specual instruments to pinpoint the exact location of the fire on a map and maintain regular radio contact.

@ Widge, there are specific chasse aux pigeons ramier regs in the Herault for the period July 2026 - June 2027. The official text.

" For the 2026–2027 hunting season, it is proposed to renew, across the whole department, the classification of the wood pigeon as a species likely to cause damage. Shooting will only be permitted within 150 metres of crops susceptible to damage (seed crops, wheat, sunflowers, chickpeas, cereals, oilseeds, etc.). "

A neighbour went to see the mairie, and as it is his ground and the tower is a temporary structure, that is legal, and as the ground the tower is on is several meters above the road and as it will be only using it for shooting pigeons, therefore shooting into the sky, apparently there us no problem with being so close to a road.
So looks like we are stuffed😱
