A nice Mercedes 190 SL.
A message in a bottle from the US crossed the North Atlantic and arrived in the German Autobild magazine. A white roadster with red leather and a beige fabric soft top: on paper, this Mercedes 190 SL has much of what classic car enthusiasts love. Yet it still failed to sell at a Bring a Trailer auction. The highest bid was US$ 74,105, but the reserve price was not met. And yet there was no shortage of interest. The auction ended on 18 October 2026 after a total of 34 bids. The listing was viewed 9,580 times, and 992 users were following the auction. Nevertheless, the final verdict was: “Reserve Not Met.”

This is happening more and more often recently. The rich collectors are failing to get ridiculous prices at auction. Reason(s)?
Has the market for such investments simply lost favour compared to other types of savings, or is it a case of simple greed?

On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Probably not a Humber, it looks like one of the variants of the British Dodge D60 supply truck. Imperial War Museum: British supply trucks crossing a Bailey bridge over the Maas in full flood at Maeseyk in Holland, 25 November 1944, click to enlarge. More information at this website. Also available as a tractor. Depend on Dodge Job-Rated Trucks. My picture: October 2018, Elvington Airfield, York.
