That was a follow up series a few years later.

The first series was about just the two of them without Rezza finding a holiday home for next to nothing moneywise and then spending a fortune making it habitable - which probably rings bells with a quite a number here - me included.

I enjoyed the French bits of Carol Drinkwaters books, but she got younger as they progressed

That's right, Nippy was the Indian who would do all the cooking. I remember Nigel downcast on the opening day at not getting his licence from the Mairie because they said they had to investigate his divorce. Then the receptionist said 'why did you say you were divorced?', gave him another application without that information and they opened on time.

Well after a busy day with the old motos club I unashamedly enjoyed the Brits in France silliness and Carol Drinkwater, whose books about her property I read years ago.

I’m glad that the new version of The Darling Buds sounds as though it’s going to be a good one. I really enjoyed the David Jason Pam Ferris one. I’ve got it all on DVD, It might need another outing this winter. I might have to get the books out as well. When my children were young we had Fair Stood the Wind for France as a story cassette read by David Jason, it was a favourite with my children on long car journeys.
Nigel’s French Adventure should be on YouTube, I watched it not so long ago.

@DominicBest The Larkins was very true to the original and a great treat for me. I have long wanted Bradley Walsh to give up his ridiculously boring, but obviously very lucrative, game show roles and go back to acting, in which he excels. Like David Jason before him, he is perfect in the role, as I knew he would be.

Ah, I meant to give that a try, also being a fan of the original series (and yes, also have it on DVD!). I really like Bradley Walsh, so was looking forward to seeing him as Pa Larkin. I think he would fit the role perfectly. Just caught by accident, him now hosting the Blankety Blank show. He even makes that look good, as I love how he gets fits of giggles. I've never seen him in his more serious acting roles, so knowing how he is a giggler, must make it quite a challenge - or he's just that good that he can switch.

Watched the second episode of Ridley Road. That's uncomfortable viewing, so might be looking for something more light hearted - it's very on point, but the people who it's meant to reach out to probably don't see it the right way.
