Tonight on the menu we have paupiettes de veau from the local Intermarché (gluten free, I ask every time), with boiled potatoes or pommes vapeur if you insist but to me they are boiled, and yellow beans/haricots beurres.
The paupiettes will be browned in a little oil then removed to a plate whilst some onion and garlic are softened and tomatoes with a splash of wine and seasoning added to make a simmering sauce in which the little parcels will be cooked until done. I scissor the strings off in the kitchen, it's horrid to have them on your plate.
If not feeling too stuffed there could be Nuii minty ice creams afterwards....

I assume that the French do not recognise the difference, but aren't pommes vapeur steamed, not boiled? The ones from Super U are made with caul, so no unwrapping of string, also they have their own sauce, but that is from the butchers counter, so you can any amount from one with a lot of sauce, to as many as they have, we have them with rice sometimes.

Getting cooler so have started to cook for real again, almost forgotten how to.
This evening its sausage savoury with our home made sausages with lots of veggies thrown in.

Same place, last time, where we get the porker Carrefore, their meat is all local and have a foire de pork in November and February.
Have got them from the butchers department in Le Clerc before, but would never buy a porker there.

This morning I made some Panini buns for lunches & knocked up 2 breakfast toast loaves whilst the oven was hot

That looks delicious - as ever.
Tonight we're going into Confolens for what might be the last fish and chip meal of the year. They can't use their small indoor seating area during Covid (no ventilation) and this will perhaps be the last evening when it's warm enough (just) to sit outside. After this it will be takeaway only and we're just a little too far away for that without the batter becoming soggy on the way home.

Steamed various veg and fruit, left over re-heated (because she doesn't like cold
) chicken for her and a small piece of ham for me.
The veg is caulie, parsnip, green pepper, carrot, spuds, leek and apple. Did consider adding a banana but it would just be mush, and a leftover tomato half, but that will do for tomorrow's lunch.
But all bought at last Saturday's village market. Another foray there tomorrow.
