Man blows up part of house while chasing fly
An electric racket and a gas leak have proved disastrous for one man in France
A man has blown up part of his house in France while trying to swat a fly.
The man, who is in his 80s, was about to tuck into his dinner when he became irritated by a fly buzzing around him.
He picked up an electric fly swatter and started targeting it - but a gas canister was leaking in his Dordogne home.
A reaction between the device and the gas caused an explosion, destroying the kitchen and partly damaging the roof of the home in Parcoul-Chenaud village.
According to local media, the unnamed man had a lucky escape, sustaining just a burn to the hand.
However, the fate of the fly is not known, news outlet Sud-Ouest notes .
The man has since checked into a local campsite while his family repair the house.

Shouldn't laugh really.
I have to say that there have been more flies around this year than usual. We live in town (well, village). I blame the tourists and their litter (proves how French I've become).

They're a pain here too. It's virtually impossible to sit outdoors without these small, buzzing critters biting you everytime they land on you.
I've been to a few countries around the globe, and never came across biting flies, except here. Fortunately they don't seem to cause itching.

What do I do then get a few tits in the house, got the electric ones 2 off, they scare the crap out of us when a fly goes in there.

We use genuine Red Tops. Two usually does the trick over the summer. Traps kilos of flies, rarely get many indoors now. We have one of the industrial type UV zappers but it only gets a fraction of the Red Top tally and adds to the EDF bill into the bargain so we no longer use it. One thing I miss is that satisfying buzz and the stink of frying insects.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

Well they arrived, just the traps, no instructions but found them on Amazon, powder in and a litre of warm water give it a shake , and hang them up. After 2 days not a sight of a fly in either, I have a coloured soupy water and the "bait" has settled out at the bottom and doesn't fully dissolve in the water, have I bought a wrong un??
