I'm aware that AI can be a contentious subject, particularly concerning photos. Having seen just what I can do with my limited skills, I will never believe another photo !
Here are a couple of our two mutts, from photos I took to asking AI to "make them into cartoons". Not very flattering of Fifi, she's nowhere near as fat !

A 40 seconds job, not enjoying a garden, on the road with a Porsche 911. I must admit that I prefer old school pictures/cartoons, speed loving dogs included. In my inbox many adverts for AI software, this one by the software producer Ashampoo: ' Create amazing portraits in just a few minutes - Anthropics PortraitPro 24'.

A bit on the dull side – we can do better than that: input for the standard Android Google photo app. First step: dynamic, second step: AI enhanced.

I used Gemini AI. It's free and you do it on line. You can create any sort of effect you want.

From the many apps available I tried 'imagetocartoon'. Sometimes strange encounters, just walking down the street, real life cartoons....

That side of AI is good fun ,there’s some very dodgy videos appear on Social Media major disasters and people saying how terrible they are until you point out that it they were real they would have made the news world wide

Unfortunately people are using it to write text for themselves which is fine until you find that at uni, say, several people have similar work. Teaching staff won't have any idea if the students really know/understand what they have learnt or not.

You might say that it doesn't matter. Because if they actually manage to get employment when they graduate, they will simply continue using AI and get paid for it.

They will be calling it progress.
On my headstone it will say: Please switch off mobile phones. I'm trying to get some sleep.

No-one's saying it doesn't matter and what you do privately is your own business. The problems can arise if a group of people produce similar texts.

maybe not if they gain employment for example as a nuclear inspector. AI might have a role there but probably not to the exclusion of human brain cells
